Once you figure out that he's almost making a biting social commentary (in the form of Elpheba), it gets sort of fun to read. If you're looking for more summer reading, my sister gave me a couple of suggestions and you might like them too: <i>The Historian</i> by Elizabeth Kostova (Vampires!) and <i>Special Topics in Calamity Physics</i> by Marisha Pessl.
